 Over two hundred years ago, Nano Nagle was fired with a great love for God and she responded to His invitation to work for others. Because of her response, there are today over three thousand Presentation Sisters across five continents.

Each of these Sisters chooses to follow in Nano's footsteps. They are always ready to respond to the needs of today, to move into new ministries in new cultures as needed. The most recent initiatives of the Presentation Sisters in Ireland have been in Slovakia and Thailand.

The good news is that, despite the decline in numbers over recent years,  there are those who are considering a vocation to religious life. If you would like to learn more about this, perhaps we can help.

How would I know if this is the right choice for me?

We encourage women who contact the Presentation Sisters to meet other women and men who are considering this choice in life. It is our experience that it can help to meet and share and pray with and for each other.

Prayer is important. The only reason to choose this way of life is if the choice is made in response to a loving invitation from God. You won't hear voices calling you, but you will begin to feel a sense of peace, wonder and even excitement as you consider this path of life in the congregation of your choice.

Sister Maureen Miley, professed as a Presentation Sister in 1998, writes: I have never been happier. I was inspired by the simplicity, love and care that came through during the time I spent in community with the Sisters before I made a commitment to become a Presentation Sister.

I said on my profession day " I know this is what I really want to do. My faith is strong, although I do wonder from time to time, but I have never been happier. I believe that celibacy enriches my humanness, and although I would love to have children of my own, I believe that I can give my all to those children who do need help".

Prayer for Discernment

Lord I know that you love me and that you have great plans for me.
But sometimes I am overwhelmed by the thought of my future.
Show me how to walk forward one day at a time.
As I explore the various options which lie before me,
Help me to listen openly to others,
And to pay attention to what is in the depth of my own heart.
In this way, may I hear your call to a way of life
Which will allow me to love as only I can,
