Sr. Dominica Murphy Retires |
On Friday, 20 April, a large crowd of present and past staffs of Scoil Mhuire, Clane gathered at the Glen Royal Hotel, Maynooth to say a sad farewell to Sr. Dominica Murphy. Sr. Dominica was Principal in Clane for 23 years, during which time she was responsible for huge changes in the field of education, among them the transfer from Secondary School to Community School status, the acquiring of an extension to the school and a large Sports Hall. Sr. Dominica was first in the IT field, managing to equip 3 computer rooms, acquire training in IT skills for all Teachers and acquire computers for all classrooms.
At the farewell ceremony many paid tribute to Dominica's kindness, care, help and concern for staff and students over so many years. Many messages of good wishes, congratulations and thanks were read, among them letters from the President, Mary McAleese, the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern and the Minister for Education, Mary Hannafin. It was a worthy 'Farewell' to a person who is truly 'one in a million'.
